FOOP LogoTee it Up for Tallahassee Friends of Our Parks Foundation - May 19 @ 9:30am

Join us for the 1st Annual Golf "Friends" Tournament on Thursday, May 19 at The Golf Club at Summerbrooke (7505 Preservation Road).

For a suggested donation of $60/person, you get 18 holes with a cart, along with lunch, all starting with a 9:30am shotgun tee time. Prizes will be awarded to winning team(s), and there will be additional prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin. And, if you shank a few on the course, mulligans are available for purchase as well (maximum 3 per golfer, 1 for $5 or 3 for $10).

All proceeds go to the Tallahassee Friends of Our Parks Foundation. These funds will be earmarked to sponsor youth sports for children who demonstrate need.

Teams must consist of four golfers (male and/or female), with a select-a-shot format. And be sure to register early, as the numbers of teams that can play is limited.

To register, simply send your team name, along with the names of the four players, to Joel Schubert...simple as that! Deadline for registration is May 1.

For more information, contact Joel Schubert at 445-7979.

Foundation Information and Background

The Tallahassee Friends of Our Parks Foundation, Inc. was established in 1981 by a group of concerned citizens to offer assistance to the City of Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department in acquiring additional sources of funding for programs and facilities. The primary purpose of the non-profit, tax-exempt foundation is to acquire properties and accept gifts for use in the City's park system.

Since 1981, the Foundation has received over $1.5 million in gifts and property. Gifts have included everything from supplies for a sewing class to sponsorship of a youth athletic league to the Oven Park property and house. You can help as an individual or group by making donations for specific programs or facilities, or you can let the Foundation decide where your donation can best be used.

Memorial TreeThe possibilities are endless! Either as an individual, a school or scouting group, or a neighborhood association, everyone can get involved. For more information, contact the PRNAD at 891-FUNN(3866) or by e-mail from this page.

Memorial & Commemorative Trees Program
Memorial and commemorative trees may be donated through the Friends of Our Parks Foundation to be planted in one of the City's parks and designated with a plaque.

Flowering cherry, maples, crepe myrtles, live oaks and camellias are popular choices. Suitable for commemorating any special occasion or as a living memorial to a loved one, your gift will also help beautify our parks and facilities for many years to come.

Each tree is designated with a plaque mounted on a metal pole and protected from the elements by Plexiglas cover. Donors can choose to help with the actual planting of the tree.

For more information, contact the PRNAD staff at 891-3866.
