Recreational opportunities continue to be an important part of our Community. The goals of the Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Department are to provide worthwhile leisure programs for citizens of all ages and a well maintained parks system. Our staff is dedicated to providing diverse, quality recreational opportunities including special events, classes, and athletic leagues. Whether it's a hike at Phipps Park, a game of tennis, swimming at Wade Wehunt Pool, or participating in an arts and crafts class, take advantage of all the "Good Times" we have planned for you and your family.

Featured Park
Guyte P. McCord Park is a large 21.93 acre park containing a drainage basin characterized as a lake. The site contains open and wooded areas, a walking trail through the center of the park and natural beauty in a natural setting. The park has undergone major enhancements in the pond structure and related site amenities. Overall, the park is very appealing.
Located at Thomasville and Armistead Roads on the north, and Trescott Drive on the south side of the park, the property was purchased during 1962 and 1967.
It was dedicated March 26, 1971, honoring Guyte Pierce McCord, known as the "Father of Tallahassee's Commission-Manager Government." Mr. McCord was Mayor from 1919 to 1922, City Attorney from 1927 to 1936, and Clerk of the Florida Supreme Court from 1938 to 1964. He was known to be unselfishly dedicated to advancing the beauty and progress of Tallahassee.
