Veterans Preference
It is the policy of the City of Tallahassee to give preference to eligible veterans and spouses of veterans in appointment to non-exempted vacant positions and retention in employment in accordance with Florida Statutes s.295.085. NOTE: Effective July 1, 2007, changes to the Florida Statutes provide that an eligible person may claim Veterans' Preference more than once. Additionally, those who served in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom may now be eligible for Veterans' Preference. IMPORTANT: In order to receive Veteran's Preference, an applicant for a City position who is claiming Veterans Preference must attach/upload a DD214 and/or other applicable documentation of his/her veterans' status at the time of application, and with each application submitted.
