TPD Investigates Death on West Pensacola Street (updated)

TPD has arrested Little Daniel Owens in connection with the death investigation near the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street. TPD initially responded to the area reference a body found burning within a pile of clothes. During the investigation, Little Owens was identified as a suspect and was taken into custody. Due to the nature of the scene, the State Fire Marshal responded to assist with the investigation. Little Owens was transported to TPD headquarters for questioning. After consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, probable cause was established to charge Little Owens with “Abuse of Dead Human Body”. Little Owens was transported to the Leon County Detention Facility for booking. Additional charges are pending.

The Tallahassee Police Department is currently investigating a death near the 2600 block of West Pensacola Street. At approximately 4:28 pm officers arrived on scene to find a deceased person in the woods.
The case has been assigned to investigators with TPD's Violent Crimes Unit. At this time, they are interviewing all known witnesses and processing the scene. Investigators are asking anyone with information about this case to please call them at (850) 891-4200 or Crime Stoppers at (850) 574-TIPS. TPD will provide more information when it becomes available.
